The triumph of organic agriculture: New gold medal for Emiliana Organic Vineyards in the UK
Chilean winemaking shines abroad once again, this time championed by sustainability. Coyam 2022, the emblematic blend from Emiliana Organic Vineyards, has just been awarded the Gold Medal at the international competition The Global Organic & Vegan Wine Masters 2026, organized by the prestigious British magazine from London, The Drinks Business.
In a rigorous blind tasting led by Masters of Wine, Coyam 2022 stood out among samples from around the world, certifying not only its sensory excellence but also the success of the agricultural model that gives it life.
For Emiliana, the world’s largest organic vineyard, this award represents much more than a score: it is the validation of a work philosophy that began in the late 90s. Coyam was the first wine from the vineyard to be born under this paradigm free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, marking the start of a transformation that today makes Emiliana a pioneer in regenerative agriculture in South America.
“Coyam is the heart of Emiliana. It is the wine that showed Chile and the world that organic was not a limitation, but the key to achieving true high-end quality,” says Noelia Orts, Oenologist for the Fine Wines Division of the winery. “Winning this Gold Medal in a global competition fills us with pride because it rewards the work of our entire agricultural and oenological team. It confirms that when you work by promoting biodiversity, restoring life to the soil, and respecting the cycles of nature, the vineyard rewards you with grapes of great purity, faithful to their origin.”
The secret is in the living earth
The success of Coyam 2022—which comes from the Colchagua Valley—is not explained by chemical recipes in the cellar, but by regenerative work in the field. The use of cover crops, biological corridors, animal integration, and the large-scale production of their own compost allow the vines to grow in a resilient and vibrant environment. This deep connection with the environment is what gives Coyam its characteristic complexity: a vibrant wine, with silky tannins and an unmistakable aromatic expression, highlighting black fruits, notes of graphite, violets, and a subtle touch of native forest.
This new international milestone is added to the demanding certifications that support the commitment of Emiliana Organic Vineyards, such as B Corp, Vegan Society, and the pioneering ROC (Regenerative Organic Certified) certification.
