Sustainable Vineyard Management
Sustainability is the way in which we guarantee quality and ensure that the company’s long-term operation by incorporating the community and workers.
We believe that using sustainable, organic, and biodynamic agriculture is the only way to obtain better-balanced, healthier, and more efficient vineyards, which results in better quality grapes and therefore in better wine.
We began using sustainable management practices in our vineyards in 1998 and incorporated the ISO 14,001 certification. In fact, Emiliana was the first Chilean vineyard to obtain it. Next came the Swiss IMO organic certification, the German Demeter biodynamic certification, and in 2009 the Carbon Neutral certification of our Los Robles estate.
At Emiliana we believe that the land is a living organism and that we should try to avoid disrupting the cycles of nature that humans have interfered with in recent decades. We therefore work to develop biodiversity to the maximum extent at each of our properties and are part of the “Wine, Climate Change, and Biodiversity” project in connection with the IEB Institute (Ecology and Biodiversity Chile Institute).
