Fair for Life

Viña Emiliana obtains Fair for Life certification from the IMO

Consumers in today’s largest global markets want to know not only about the processes used to produce the goods they buy, but also about how the company treats its employees.

In technical terms, companies that operate in accordance with good labor practices and provide their workers with real opportunities for development are recognized as Fair Trade companies.

Viña Emiliana has obtained this designation by becoming certified Fair for Life – Social & FairTrade by the Swiss-based Institute for Marketekology (IMO), an independent organization that uses rigorous standards to assesses the fair trade capacities of companies in the agricultural, manufacturing and commercial sectors.

In broad terms, this certification guarantees that human rights are respected in all stages of production and that working conditions are suitable and fair.

IMO first accredited Viña Emiliana for its planting and processing stages. Specifically, it noted that the winery respects labor rights, offers good working conditions, is effective in the administration of Premium Fair Trade through the proper use of social work, provides a good work environment, and offers products in accordance with fair trade principles.

IMO also deemed that the company’s pressing, bottling and labeling of olive oil (which is produced under of Emiliana’s Social Responsibility Program by Agroindustrial Huaquen S.A.) was carried out with respect for labor rights, under excellent working conditions, and to outstanding environmental standards. It furthermore noted that the products made in the plant are made by a producer certified in corporate social responsibility.
