Gold and Silver Medals plus the “Best White Blend” for Emiliana at the 8th AWOCA

The most important organic and biodynamic winery in Chile and the world continues reaping awards from specialists.

One of the big winners at this year’s Awards was the Novas Winemaker’s Selection Chardonnay/Viognier/Marsanne 2009, which was chosen the best in its category.

Other important awards for Emiliana included Gold Medals for Novas Winemaker’s Selection Syrah/Mourvedre 2008 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, and Silver Medals for Novas Winemaker’s Selection Syrah 2009 and Coyam 2008.

Emiliana continues to reap awards and recognition from wine critics, which places it among the most distinguished Chilean wineries at the national and International levels.

In addition to the numerous awards and high scores earned in the world’s most prestigious wine magazines such as Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, and Wine & Spirits, Emiliana’s participation in the 8th Annual Wines of Chile Awards (AWOCA) on January 7–13 earned it Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals as well as a Best in Category trophy for White Blends for its Novas Winemaker’s Selection Chardonnay/Viognier/Marsanne 2009.

This wine is 74% Chardonnay, 16% Viognier, 8% Marsanne, and 2% Roussanne and impressed the expert judges from Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, and Chile.

More than 100 wineries participated in the competition—a blind tasting of approximately 620 wines, among which the Emiliana wines that participated stood out for their quality. In addition to the trophy for Novas Winemaker’s Selection Chardonnay/Viogner/Marsanne 2009, the Novas Winemaker’s Selection Syrah/Mourvedre 2008 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 both won Gold Medals, and the Novas Winemaker’s Selection Syrah 2009 and Coyam 2008 earned Silver Medals, while the Reserva Especial Pinot Noir 2009 and Novas Carmenere/Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 received Bronze Medals.

These important awards come on the heels of other recent awards from major US magazines. Gê 2006, Emiliana’s icon wine, earned 94 points in Wine Enthusiast, which places it among the top 100 wines of 2010—the only Chilean wine to make the list.
