Coyam 2007 scores 93 points in Wine Access Magazine’s
In its 2010 evaluation, Wine Access, one of Canada’s most influential trade magazines, rated the 2007 Coyam at 93 points.
Jun 3 2009 With important wine industry specialists evaluating the finest wines in the world, Canadian magazine Wine Access placed Viñedo Emiliana and its biodynamic wine Coyam 2007 among the finest in its special on “Winning Wines of Chile.”
The same magazine ranked our 2006 Coyam at 91 points last year. Since its first vintage in 2001, this wine has received important accolades that command respect from important wine critics and leading the way for the development of more excellent organic and biodynamic wines of the highest quality.
The 2007 Coyam is Chile’s second wine to be certified biodynamic and shows Emiliana’s evolution as it produces this wine under the highest standards of quality, which coincide with the ongoing search for excellence.
The name of this red blend, Coyam, comes from the native Mapudungun language and means Chilean oak. This tree is indigenous to southern Chile and grows abundantly on the hills that ring Emiliana’s Los Robles estate in the Colchagua Valley, where Coyam is grown and vinified.
The magazine’s tasting notes describe the 2007 Coyam as the best vintage to date, and “replete with blackberries, savoury red fruits, floral mineral aspects and a dusting of toffee, chocolate and coffee. The palate is rich and smooth. its dark fruit flavours preview a glossy, slippery texture that slides down the throat effortlessly.” Author Anthony Gismondi goes on to say that “this is quintessential biodynamic fruit, alive with flavours.”
This latest recognition joins the long list of awards earned by Emiliana products, and which have helped position Emiliana as the most important organic and biodynamic winery, not only in Chile, but in the world.
In the recently concluded 17th Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Emiliana received Gold Medals for Coyam 2007, Winemaker’s Selection Chardonnay Marsanne Viognier 2008, Winemaker’s Selection Syrah Mourvedre 2006, and Winemaker’s Selection Syrah 2007.
