The event hosted by Mr. Rafael Guilisasti, General Manager of Viñedos Emiliana, and Mr. Alfonso Larraín, President of Viña Concha y Toro, took place during the 2010 World’s Best Sommelier competition held in Chile in April and organized by the International Association of Sommeliers, the Chilean Association of Sommeliers, and Wines of Chile.
Viñedos Emiliana consulting winemaker Álvaro Espinoza presented the winery’s icon wine Gê, which has received wide national and international acclaim since its creation.
Santiago, April 13. More than 200 sommeliers, wine writers, and authorities in the international wine trade had the opportunity to taste the icon wine Gê during the Chilean Icon Wine Tasting organized by Concha y Toro and the 2010 World’s Best Sommelier Competition. Emiliana’s winemaking consultant Álvaro Espinoza presented the 2006 vintage of the wine that the national and international press have repeatedly called one of the best biodynamic wines in the world.
Gê, the first wine to be certified biodynamic in Latin America, seeks to reflect its strong relationship with its place of origin and the rhythm of the cosmos. This blend of four red varietals – Syrah, Carmenere, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon – comes from the Los Robles estate in the Colchagua Valley.
Gê is an elegant, sophisticated wine known for its tremendous quality, which is the maximum expression of biodynamic management at Viñedos Emiliana and the result of a selection of the finest grapes at the estate.
Viña Cono Sur and Almaviva were also invited to the event, which concluded with a luncheon in the gardens at Viña Concha y Toro in Pirque in the Maipo Valley.
The 13th World’s Best Sommelier Competition was held in Chile for the first time, which provided an unparalleled opportunity to interact with the participants who came from 50 countries to vie for the title.
The finals of this important competition will take place on April 15 from 3:00 and 6:30 OM in the Hotel W Santiago. Entrance is free with prior registration.
