Emiliana obtains Carbon Neutral Certification
In the framework of its sustainability project, and further strengthening its philosophy of producing high quality wines through organic, biodynamic® agricultural practices, Emiliana Vineyards obtained the “Carbon Neutral” certification from TÜV SÜD. The certification includes the winery’s entire production process at its main estate, “Los Robles” (including grape production, winemaking and transportation). The process also resulted in the certification of the wine production process of the wines Gê, Coyam, and the Novas Winemaker’s Selection Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah Mourvedre varieties.
As part of the process, Emiliana Vineyards conducted energy studies certified by internationally accredited entities and formulated short and long term plans to ensure the company achieves its mitigation targets.
Net GHG emissions for “Los Robles” estate were quantified for the entire chain of production and distribution of its products.
As well as advancing towards comprehensive energy efficiency and GHG emission neutrality, Emiliana is currently working to improve its energy sufficiency through sustainable energy management. This strategy seeks to improve management practices in its vineyards, wineries, offices and transportation chains.
Today, Emiliana is implementing a variety of mitigation techniques that include the use of solar panels, biodiesel fuel for its tractors, and organic and biodynamic® agricultural practices, which fix Carbon (using green manure and composting, among other techniques).
These combined efforts are further proof of the winery’s firm commitment to the community and to its employees. Transparency, a positive work environment, and the provision of concrete educational and professional development opportunities to employees are pillars of our company; all of which are underwrote under the company’s corporate social responsibility certification, IMO for Life (of Switzerland).
In this way Emiliana Vineyards is demonstrating that building a unique, sustainable enterprise using organic and biodynamic® production processes is not only possible but also profitable, respects the environment and its workers, and is able to produce wines of the highest quality recognized both nationally and internationally.
